Mississippi Beach

Mississippi Beach

Mississippi Beach, oil on board 11x14"

Painted from a beach along the Mississippi in a park across from where the Minnesota River enters the Mississippi. After tromping through the woods with my easel & painting gear, I was surprised to find a nice sandy beach there.  There was a slight fishy smell in the air, but not too bad for the muddy Mississippi.  Thankfully the mosquitos weren’t biting.    This is the first plein air painting I did that I really liked while studying with Joe Paquet, a great teacher & painter.
